CG-Catholic Network

Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn

Dear Catechists of the Canberra/Goulburn Archdiocese,

Just a brief introduction from me, Matt Ransom, your new Religious Education Coordinator for Government Schools (formerly CCD).

I have been married to Cathy, for 20 years, and we have two beautiful children, Ruth who is 19 and doing NET, and Patrick is just 18 and is studying at university. We have just moved from Cairns, returning to our home town of Canberra.

My background is in education. Having been a science, maths and RE teacher for 15 years. Most recently I was a Chaplain of a large P -12 College in Cairns (p/t) and Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinator (p/t).

The work of our inspirational Catechists is so important for the young people and our society. I see your ministry as bringing Jesus to our little ones, Jesus who brings hope, life and consolation to a sometimes difficult world. Please let me know how I can support and encourage you in this important missionary endeavour of our beautiful Catholic Church.

I am praying for you

Blessings

Hi Matt, it was lovely to meet you in Young at the annual CCD Mass for the Western Deanery. I'm very much looking forward to our annual retreat this weekend, led by Sr. Barbara Murray rsm. As a Mercy Associate for many years, I look forward to seeing Sr. Barbara once again. Here in Grenfell, we've now finished teaching the children Catholic SRE for 2011. Our last classes were held yesterday.

As Catholic SRE Coordinator in St. Joseph's Parish, Grenfell, I look forward to working closely with you for the year ahead.

May God bless you and your family.

Kindest regards,

Christine Convery

P.S. Our teaching careers have some elements in common. I taught Secondary Mathematics and the H.S.C. Studies of Religion Course for many years. I'm now a fully qualified Meditation Facilitator & Teacher and Practice Centering Prayer in the Contemplative tradition. Wishing you and yours a safe and blessed Advent and Christmas Season.
