Intimate Relationships and Sexual Integrity Education Programs for Years 7 – 10 in 2010 and beyond...

During the course of 2009, CatholicLIFE and the Catholic Education Office collaborated on a Sexual Integrity Education Pilot Project.

The project aimed to provide a program specifically designed for adolescents encouraging responsible decision making regarding their sexuality and to measure the effectiveness of that program with a view to optimising its future use in the schools of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn.

The aims of the project were completed and the final results established the program had a significant positive impact on the students in regard to their decion making around relationships.

The report recommended that the program be promoted to the schools in 2010 and into the future.

We are currently accepting expressions of interest from all secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn.

If your school is interested in receiving information on how to arrange presentations for your students please contact Catherine.Cooney@catholiclife.org.au or on 61634312 or mob 0416195561 with your contact details.

Hi Cathy, can you send us collated feedback responses? Trying to gather them in one spot on a national basis... glad to hear it went well.

We had a great day at St Clare's yesterday, two Yr 10 classes, the feedback from the girls was that they loved it.

Thanks to all the presenters for their commitment and enthusiasm!

Back again next Monday 3rd for another two sessions.

I would like to thank Catherine Cooney for all the work she is doing in a very vital area of pastoral care for our families, young adults in particular and of course the great staffs of our Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese.
Catherine and a co-worker, Libby, spent two full days on the Monaro and Sth Coast last week, conducting information sessions on CDO, for parishioners who may be thinking about volunteering as a presenter and for principals, REC's and even Government High School teachers.
Catherine was kind enough to allow me to screen and speak about some of the CHOICEZ materials which are available from choicez.com, a Canberra based organisation run by Jonathan and Karen Doyle. Together, CDO workshop experiences in the first four years of high school and the materials from Choicez will empower our young people when dealing with the hyper-sexualised cultue in which they navigate every day.
Let's keep Catherine and her team in our prayers and thoughts throughout the year.
