Shawn van der Linden's Page

About me

Shawn has a diverse background in a range of sectors including running his own carpentry business, catholic missionary work, youth ministry, counselling and family therapy, community development initiatives and organisational consultancy and training. He has qualifications in Theology, Family Therapy, Social Work and Workplace Training. Since 1997 Shawn has been closely involved in establishing and managing successful community based organisations that support men's health and wellbeing and resilience building in the construction industry. Prior to becoming the Archdiocesan Director of Pastoral Support he has worked as the College Counsellor at two ACT Catholic Colleges and was a senior consultant to a national provider of workplace psychological, organisational and human development services.


Shawn enjoys serving the Archdiocese as it provides such unique opportunity to be connected with the Spirit of Christ working in the Church today.   He is married with 4 children and is a member of St Thomas the Apostle Parish in Kambah, ACT.

The Director of Pastoral Support role is new in the Archdiocese and has the twofold focus of managing CatholicLIFE and supporting pastoral planning and development in the Archdiocese.
